Ravens 34, 49ers 31: Joe Flacco threw for 287 yards and three touchdown passes and Baltimore survived a furious comeback and a power outage to win its second Super Bowl at the Superdome in New Orleans.

Jacoby Jones returned a kickoff 108 yards for a touchdown and hauled in a 56-yard scoring pass from Flacco as the Ravens (14-6) built a 22-point lead before holding off San Francisco (13-5-1) in the first Super Bowl featuring brothers as opposing head coaches.

Anquan Boldin had six receptions for 104 yards and a score for Baltimore, which sent future Hall of Fame linebacker Ray Lewis into retirement on a triumphant note by handing the 49ers their first Super Bowl loss in six appearances.

The 49ers did not go quietly, storming back from a 28-6 third-quarter deficit and moving into position for the go-ahead touchdown before Colin Kaepernick overthrew Michael Crabtree in the end zone with 1:46 to play on fourth-and-goal at the 5-yard line. The Ravens took a late safety to account for the final margin.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh got the best of his younger brother Jim in what appeared to be a blowout after Jones tied the longest scoring play in Super Bowl history by returning the second-half kickoff 108 yards for a 28-6 lead.

Less than 90 seconds later, the lights went out at the stadium, prompting a 34-minute delay and turning the momentum in San Francisco's favor. Kaepernick led the 49ers to 17 points in a span of 4:10 to ignite the comeback and later scored on a 15-yard run to cut the deficit to 31-29 with 9:57 to play before a tying two-point conversion pass failed.

Flacco, named the game's Most Valuable Player, capped a magnificent postseason that saw him throw for 11 touchdown passes and zero interceptions. He carved up the league's second-stingiest scoring defense in the opening half, throwing three touchdown passes to spark the Ravens to a 21-6 lead.

Kaepernick, in his 10th career start, overcame a shaky first half to throw for 302 yards and a TD while rushing for 62 yards and another score.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Flacco tied Joe Montana and Kurt Warner for the most scoring passes in one postseason and became the sixth quarterback to throw three first-half TD passes in the Super Bowl. ... Ravens S Ed Reed picked off Kaepernick in the second quarter for his ninth career postseason interception, tying him with Ronnie Lott, Charlie Waters and Bill Simpson for the NFL career record. That pick was also the first interception thrown by a San Francisco quarterback in six Super Bowls. ... The Ravens became the only team in Super Bowl history to have two kickoff returns for touchdowns. They also had one from Jermaine Lewis in their 34-7 rout of the New York Giants in Super Bowl XXXV. ... Lewis, the MVP of Super Bowl XXXV, had only four tackles in his final game.
