Matt Moore capped a 21-play drive by hitting Charles Clay with a 1-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter as the Miami Dolphins ended the New York Jets' postseason aspirations with a 19-17 home triumph on Sunday.

Mark Sanchez tossed a career-worst three interceptions for the Jets (8-8), who suffered their third straight loss and failed in their bid for their third straight postseason appearance. Had New York defeated Miami (6-10), it still would have needed losses by Tennessee and Cincinnati as well as a setback from either Denver or Oakland in order to make the playoffs.

With New York nursing a 10-6 lead, the Dolphins began a drive at their own 6-yard line and kept the Jets' defense on the field for 12 1/2 minutes. Moore capped the lengthy drive by rolling to his left before finding Clay for his second 1-yard touchdown reception in as many weeks.

Veteran linebacker Jason Taylor, who was playing in the final game of his 15-year career, hit Sanchez on the Jets' next possession to force the second interception of the day by defensive end Randy Starks.

After Dan Carpenter kicked his third of four field goals on the day to give Miami a 16-10 lead, the Jets worked their way down the field. Sanchez then misfired on a short pass to running back Shonn Greene, resulting in an interception for linebacker Marvin Mitchell with three minutes to play.

Sanchez's 10-yard touchdown pass to Patrick Turner closed the deficit to two at 19-17 with 1:15 to play, but the New York could not recover the onside kick.

The Jets claimed a 7-3 lead following an eight-play, 77-yard drive. Jeremy Kerley completed a 41-yard strike to Matthew Mulligan to put New York in position. Tight end Dustin Keller capped the drive with a 1-yard score after Sanchez rolled to his right and tossed his 25th touchdown pass of the season.

LaDainian Tomlinson rushed for 56 yards and moved past former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jerome Bettis for fifth-most in NFL history. Tomlinson now has 13,684 rushing yards in his career.
