Charlie Whitehurst connected with undrafted rookie wide receiver Doug Baldwin on a 27-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter as the Seattle Seahawks recorded a stunning 36-25 road triumph over the New York Giants on Sunday.

After starter Tarvaris Jackson injured his shoulder during the third quarter, Whitehurst steered the Seahawks (2-3) to their first win in the Eastern time zone since posting a 28-24 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Dec. 2, 2007.

Whitehurst completed four of his five passes on the scoring drive, capped by Baldwin's eighth catch of the day. The Giants drove the length of the field, but Brandon Browner intercepted Eli Manning and returned it 90 yards for a score.

Manning attempted to find Victor Cruz - who had eight catches for a career-high 161 yards and a touchdown - but the wideout tipped the ball and it caromed to Browner.

That play came on the heels of Cruz making a brilliant 68-yard touchdown to give New York a 22-19 lead. Manning lofted a deep ball up to Cruz, who tipped the ball among a pair of Seahawks defenders. Cruz then located the ball and hauled it in with his right hand before running in for his third score of the season.

Hakeem Nicks and tight end Jake Ballard found the end zone for the second straight week for New York (3-2), which saw its three-game winning streak come to an end.

Marshawn Lynch rushed for 98 yards and a touchdown for Seattle.
