Rookie Roy Helu ran for a career-high 108 yards and his first career touchdown, and Rex Grossman tossed a 50-yard scoring pass with 6 1/2 minutes left in the fourth quarter as the Washington Redskins halted a six-game losing streak with a 23-17 road victory over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

Helu also caught seven passes for 54 yards and Grossman was 26 of 35 for 315 yards and two TDs with two interceptions for Washington, which avoided its first seven-game skid since the start of the 1998 season.

Marshawn Lynch gained 111 yards on 24 carries and extended his streak of consecutive games with a touchdown to seven with a 20-yard scoring reception for the Seahawks, who have lost six straight meetings with the Redskins.

Seattle (4-7) built a 17-7 lead when Tarvaris Jackson connected with Golden Tate for a 15-yard touchdown just over two minutes into the fourth quarter. But Washington (4-7) found the end zone twice in a 3:20 span to move ahead.

Helu scored with 9:51 remaining as he leaped over a defender and bounced off a tackle before scampering 28 yards. On the Redskins' next possession, Grossman threw a 50-yard bomb to Anthony Armstrong in the left corner of the end zone for a 20-17 advantage.

Seattle's Red Bryant, who blocked a field-goal attempt in the second quarter, knocked away Graham Gano's extra-point try to keep the deficit at three. However, Gano sealed the win with a 25-yard field goal with 63 seconds to play.

Jackson completed 14 of 30 passes for 144 yards for the Seahawks, who haven't won three in a row since 2007.
