Michael Pratt threw two touchdown passes and host Tulane won its third consecutive game by defeating Army 38-12 in a nonconference game Saturday afternoon.

Jha'Quan Jackson caught one of Pratt's touchdown passes and ran for another score. Pratt passed for just 197 yards, but it was enough as the Green Wave defense kept the Black Knights offense in check.

Tulane (5-4) moved within one victory of bowl eligibility with games remaining at Tulsa and at home against Memphis.

Army (6-2) already has accepted a bid to the Dec. 26 Independence Bowl.

The Black Knights, who had won their last four games, were playing their first game in three weeks and appeared rusty in falling behind 14-0 in the first quarter and never catching up.

Army quarterback Christian Anderson, playing for the first time since being injured Oct. 3 against Abilene Christian, passed for one touchdown and ran for another.

Pratt's 21-yard touchdown pass to Jackson on the first possession of the third quarter extended Tulane's lead to 21-12.

Merek Glover kicked a 26-yard field goal to increase the lead to 24-12 at the end of the third quarter.

The Black Knights reached the Green Wave 10 early in the fourth quarter but turned the ball over on downs.

Jackson ran 14 yards for a touchdown with 4:26 remaining, and on the ensuing kickoff return Tulane's Jaetavian Toles caught a lateral and ran 8 yards for a touchdown.

That was the third takeaway for the Green Wave, who did not turn the ball over.

Tulane took a 7-0 lead on its first possession of the game when Pratt threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Tyrick James.

Amare Jones ran 50 yards for a touchdown that increased the Green Wave's lead to 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Army's offense got going in the second quarter and Anderson threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Tyrell Robinson. The extra point was blocked.

Anderson ran 19 yards for a touchdown, but a two-point conversion failed, leaving Tulane with a 14-12 halftime lead.
