FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- No. 24 Arkansas jumped out big early and cruised to a 42-3 victory over Texas State on Saturday night at Reynolds Razorback Stadium.

The Razorbacks (3-0) rolled up 467 yards of total offense, including 350 yards in the first half, and led 35-0 at halftime.

Junior quarterback Austin Allen completed 16 of 21 passes for 241 yards and two touchdowns for the Razorbacks, who have won six consecutive games -- and nine of their last 10 -- dating to last season.

Sophomore running back Rawleigh Williams III had 121 yards on 19 carries and two touchdowns, his third consecutive game with at least 100 yards rushing. Arkansas senior receiver Keon Hatcher had three catches for 93 yards, including a 73-yard reception which led to Arkansas' second touchdown in the first quarter.

But perhaps the biggest statement of the game for the Razorbacks came defensively as the Razorbacks shut down Texas State's fast-paced offense and senior quarterback Tyler Jones.

Two weeks after opening the season with 546 yards of total offense -- including a school-record 440 yards passing -- in a 56-54 triple-overtime victory over Ohio, Texas State (1-1) was held to 105 total yards. Jones completed 11 of 26 passes for 83 yards and was sacked four times.

Texas State had 22 yards rushing.

The lopsided victory allowed Arkansas to rest many starters in the second half for the first time this season after opening with a 21-20 victory over Louisiana Tech and a 41-38 double overtime win at TCU.

Texas State's most productive drive came on its opening series of the second half when the Bobcats drove 53 yards in 16 plays and got its lone points when sophomore James Sherman kicked a career-long 39-yard field goal with 9:56 left in the third quarter.

Arkansas scored on its next drive on a 15-yard run from Williams to set the final score.

Coaches for both teams agreed to a 10-minute clock for the fourth quarter with thunderstorms nearing the Fayetteville area.

Arkansas outgained Texas State 350-26 in total offense in the first half and used a balanced attack to quickly grab the momentum and a 35-0 lead at the half.

Allen was 12 of 16 for 203 yards in the opening two quarters. Jones was 5 of 13 for 30 yards. The Bobcats had minus-4 yards rushing in the first half.
