Senior quarterback Sefo Liufau threw for two scores and ran for another in less than a half of work Saturday, and Colorado scored five second-quarter touchdowns in its 56-7 defeat of Idaho State in Boulder, Colo.

Colorado is 2-0 for the first time since 2013, and it's receiving votes in the AP and USA Today polls for the first time since 2008. Next Saturday, the Buffaloes play at No. 5 Michigan, and they visit No. 24 Oregon a week later.

Idaho State coach Mike Kramer was the head coach at Montana State in 2006 when he led the Bobcats to a 19-10 upset of the Buffaloes in Boulder. But Kramer and the FCS Bengals (1-1) were badly overmatched Saturday.

The Buffaloes gained 597 yards and held Idaho State to 96. The Buffaloes led 49-0 at halftime, and they went for 410 yards and 21 first downs in the first half alone. Colorado improved to 5-2 all-time against FCS foes.

Colorado pulled Liufau and inserted redshirt freshman quarterback Steven Montez on its final drive of the second quarter. Montez promptly hit junior Kabion Ento with a 69-yard touchdown pass to cap the half. It was Montez's first college pass, and Ento's first reception at Colorado.

A week after being named the Pac-12's offensive player of the week, Liufau went 15 for 18 for 204 yards. His rushing touchdown came on a 19-yard scramble. Colorado benched its starters for the second half.

Idaho State fell to 0-13 against Pac-12 opponents. The Bengals play at Oregon State next Saturday.

Bengals sophomore quarterback Tanner Gueller went 18 for 35 for 59 yards. Senior Jakori Ford's 3-yard run late in the third quarter gave Idaho State its lone touchdown.
