No. 9 South Carolina 31, No. 4 Clemson 17: Connor Shaw rushed for a touchdown and passed for a score, and Mike Davis scored the go-ahead touchdown as the host Gamecocks beat their in-state rival for the fifth consecutive season.

Shaw completed 14-of-26 passes for 152 yards and rushed for 94 yards for South Carolina (10-2), which was eliminated from the SEC championship game race when Missouri defeated Texas A&M later on Saturday. Davis snapped a 17-17 tie with a 2-yard touchdown run with 11:47 to play, and the Gamecocks forced four turnovers in the final 8:38.

Clemson (10-2) came in averaging 42.3 points, but committed six turnovers. Tajh Boyd passed for 225 yards and two interceptions as the Tigers finished with 352 yards of total offense, 163 below their season average.

Clemson rallied from a 17-7 deficit on Chandler Catanzaro’s 38-yard field goal on the final play of the first half and Roderick McDowell’s 4-yard touchdown run with 3:01 left in the third quarter. After Davis’ touchdown run, Chaz Sutton recovered Boyd’s fumble on the ensuing possession at the South Carolina 30-yard line, and the Gamecocks pounced on a muffed punt that set up Pharoh Cooper’s 26-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Wilds with 3:44 remaining.

Shaw scored on a 3-yard run to cap a 17-play, 80-yard march to give the Gamecocks a 7-0 lead late in the first quarter, but Boyd answered with an 8-yard touchdown run to tie the contest with 2:45 left in the period. Shaw hit Shaq Roland on a 9-yard touchdown on the opening play of the second quarter, and Elliott Fry’s 21-yard field goal midway through the quarter staked South Carolina to a 17-7 halftime lead.

GAME NOTEBOOK: South Carolina’s five-game winning streak over Clemson is the longest streak in the 111-year history of the series. … The Tigers came in with 16 turnovers in 11 games. … Sammy Watkins caught seven passes for 93 yards for Clemson.
