Bryce Petty, who played just one series in the second half, completed 13-of-16 passes for 338 yards and two touchdowns and rushed 8 yards for another touchdown for Baylor (2-0), which scored TDs on its first seven possessions of the game en route to a 56-13 halftime advantage. Alex Neutz caught six passes for 197 yards and a touchdown and Branden Oliver scored the game's first touchdown on a 1-yard run to lead Buffalo (0-2), which was much more competitive in its season opener, a 40-20 loss at Ohio State last week.
The Bears' defense also was in a scoring mood, as linebacker Bryce Hager returned a fumble 91 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter. The 501 first-half yards were the third most by an FBS team in a first half dating back to last season, according to ESPN Stats & Info.
Backup tailback Shock Linwood rushed for 76 yards on 12 carries and scored two touchdowns for the Bears, while second-string quarterback Seth Russell finished up for Petty by completing 6-of-9 passes for 114 yards and a touchdown.

Baylor has now topped 600 yards in total offense in four of its last five games. ... Hager's 91-yard fumble return for a touchdown was the second longest in school history.
