Washington 38, No. 19 Boise State 6: Keith Price passed for 324 yards and two touchdowns and Bishop Sankey rushed for 161 yards and two scores as the host Huskies pounded the Broncos in the season opener for both teams.

Price threw third-quarter touchdown passes to Kasen Williams and Joshua Perkins as Washington turned a four-point lead into a rout. Sankey scored on a first-quarter run and added a final-quarter scamper as Washington handed Boise State its worst loss in Chris Petersen’s eight seasons as coach.

The Huskies rolled up 592 total yards in their first contest in 21 months at renovated Husky Stadium. Sankey had 173 total yards after accumulating 279 (205 rushing, 74 receiving) in a Las Vegas Bowl loss to the Broncos last December.

Washington set the tone on its second possession with a 16-play, 84-yard drive for the game’s first points on Sankey’s 1-yard run. Travis Coons kicked a 30-yard field with 10:21 left in the first half and Boise State finally got on the board with Dan Goodale’s 37-yard field goal 2:31 before halftime.

Goodale booted a 20-yard field goal with 9:37 left in the third quarter to pull the Broncos within 10-6 before Price hit Williams on a 19-yard scoring aerial and Perkins on an 18-yarder to make it an 18-point margin with 1:34 left in the stanza. Sankey’s 23-yard run with 10:45 to play increased the lead to 31-6 and Dwayne Washington tacked on an 8-yard scoring run with 5:56 left.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Price has thrown a school-record 56 career touchdowns. He surpassed Cody Pickett (1999-2003) with his second scoring aerial. … Boise State’s previous worst loss under Petersen also occurred against Washington – a 24-10 defeat in 2007. … The Huskies played without All-American TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins, who was suspended earlier this week due to an off-season DUI arrest.
