Temple 37, South Florida 28: Tailback Montel Harris rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns as the Owls downed the visiting Bulls in dramatic fashion.

In their Big East Conference season debut, the Owls blocked a potential game-winning field goal with 1:11 left in the game. Harris then ran 35 yards for a score on the next play to wrap up the win.

In the homecoming victory, Temple (2-2, 1-0 Big East) deployed a strong running game and won the time of possession battle. Sophomore quarterback Chris Coyer tallied 221 total yards and two touchdowns and running back Matt Brown added 59 yards and a score.

B.J. Daniels completed 18 of 31 passes for 219 yards and a touchdown and ran for a score for South Florida (2-4, 0-2). Senior running back Demetris Murray ran for 75 yards and a score.

Temple defensive lineman John Youboty forced a crucial fumble in the third quarter that helped the Owls score two TDs in a 78-second span.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The game marked Temple’s first Big East game since leaving the conference in 2004. … South Florida has now gone six consecutive games without recording an interception. … Temple scored three touchdowns in its first four second-half possessions.
