North Carolina 45, No. 25 Duke 20: Marquise Williams threw for two touchdowns and ran for a pair of scores as the visiting Tar Heels played an inspired game on both sides of the ball to avert a third straight loss to the Blue Devils in ACC play.

Williams, who was 18-of-27 for 276 yards and ran for another 98, threw touchdowns to Quinshad Davis and Mack Hollins, and ran for scores of 1 and 16 yards for North Carolina (6-5, 4-3 ACC), which became bowl-eligible with the win. T.J. Logan carried 18 times for 116 yards and a touchdown to become the first Tar Heel to rush for more than 100 yards this season.

Anthony Boone tossed a 10-yard score to Issac Blakeney and an 18-yarder to Jamison Crowder, and finished 22-of-40 for 262 yards and one interception for Duke (8-3, 4-3). Thomas Sirk added a 1-yard touchdown for the Blue Devils, who dropped out of Coastal Division title contention.

It didn't take long for the first half to turn into a nightmare for Duke, which fumbled on its first two possessions resulting in a 3-yard touchdown catch by Davis and a 10-yard fumble return for a score by Tim Scott. Duke got on the board with the touchdown reception by Blakeney, but Williams answered that with a 1-yard TD pass to Hollins and a 1-yard TD run to take a 28-7 lead at the break.

The Tar Heels put the game away early in the second half as Logan ran for his touchdown on fourth-and-goal and Thomas Moore booted a 30-yard field to make it 38-7 with 6:23 remaining in the third quarter. Boone found Crowder for a score late in the third quarter and Sirk scored midway through the fourth for the Blue Devils, who failed on a two-point conversion that would have made it a 16-point game.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The 28 first-half points allowed by Duke were nearly 10 more than its per game average of 18.1, which had them ranked 11th in the nation. ... North Carolina, which came into the game allowing 512 yards per contest, limited the Blue Devils to just 156 yards in the first half and 378 for the game. ... Crowder moved to within 16 receptions of passing former Blue Devil Conner Vernon (2009-12), the ACC's all-time leader with 283 catches.
