South Carolina (8-2, 6-2 SEC) matched its conference record from last season after never previously finishing better than 5-3.

The back-breaker came late in the first half with South Carolina facing 4th-and-6 from Arkansas’ 42. Coach Steve Spurrier gambled, and it paid off when Shaw found a wide open Bruce Ellington for a touchdown and a 21-10 lead. D.J. Swearinger’s 69-yard interception return for a touchdown made it 31-10 in the third quarter.

Arkansas (4-6, 2-4 SEC) was short-handed at linebacker due to the DUI-related suspension of starter Terrell Williams. Senior quarterback Tyler Wilson completed 26 of 41 passes for 277 yards and two touchdowns, but was picked off twice.

South Carolina played its first game without star running back Marcus Lattimore, who is out for the year with a knee injury. Mike Davis and Kenny Miles combined for 90 yards rushing on 27 carries.
