No. 21 Oregon State 38, Arizona 35: Sean Mannion threw three touchdown passes, the final one to Connor Hamlett with 1 minute, 9 seconds to play, and the surprising Beavers remained undefeated with a wild Pac-12 Conference victory over the host Wildcats.

It was the third straight upset victory and second in Pac-12 play for the Beavers to start the season. Ranked for the first time since 2010, Oregon State, which opened the season with wins over Wisconsin and UCLA, raced out to a 17-0 lead in the second quarter.

But Arizona (3-2, 0-2) erased the deficit by scoring 21 straight points to set up a see-saw affair the rest of the way. Mannion, who set a career high with 433 yards on 29 of 43 passing, capped his sensational night with a 9-yard touchdown pass to Hamlett for the game’s final points.

Arizona’s final drive ended when quarterback Matt Scott, who also set a career high with 403 passing yards, was intercepted near midfield. Scott threw three touchdown passes, the last being a 7-yarder to Austin Hill to give the Wildcats a 35-31 lead with 5:34 to play.

The Wildcats, though, had little success slowing down the Beavers all night. Oregon State racked up 612 yards of total offense and got 161 yards and a touchdown from Storm Woods on the ground.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Oregon State coach Mike Riley became the all-time leader at the school with 75 victories. … Arizona lost star safety Jared Tevis to an ankle injury in the first quarter. Tevis did return to the game but the Wildcats also lost center Kyle Quinn in the second half. He did not return. … Ka’Deem Carey scored two touchdowns and ran for 115 yards for the Wildcats.
