Indiana 45, UMass 6: Tre Roberson ran for 105 yards and two touchdowns and passed for another in the first quarter before leaving in an ambulance after suffering a gruesome leg injury, putting a damper on Indiana’s rout of Massachusetts at Gillette Stadium.

Stephen Houston and Isaiah Roundtree each had a touchdown run for Indiana (2-0). The Hoosiers, who matched their win total from all of last season, led 38-6 at the half en route to their first win over an FBS team since a 37-31 season-ending win over Purdue in 2010.

The win was tempered by the loss of Roberson, however. The sophomore had touchdown runs of 50 and 39 yards and threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Shane Wynn before his leg bent awkwardly during a short-yardage run early in the second quarter.

The Hoosiers continued to coast with junior college transfer Cameron Coffman under center. Coffman finished 16-of-22 for 159 yards.

Despite the loss, UMass (0-2) showed improvement from last week. The Minutemen, who played their first-ever FBS game at Gillette Stadium – home of the New England Patriots – racked up 264 yards after failing to cross midfield in a 37-0 loss to UConn.

GAME NOTEBOOK: This was the first-ever meeting between the teams. … UMass had eight penalties for 80 yards in the first half alone. … Roberson is still eligible for a medical redshirt.
