Ross Krautman’s fourth field goal capped another late rally at home for Syracuse and gave the Orange a 33-30 overtime win over Toledo on Saturday afternoon. They remain undefeated in three games at home despite never holding a lead heading into the final quarter.

Kevyn Scott intercepted Austin Dantin’s errant pass on the Rockets’ first overtime possession to set up Krautman’s 27-yarder. Toledo (1-3), which also blew a second-half lead on the road at Ohio State, held momentum entering the extra session after driving 69 yards in two minutes to set up a game-tying field goal at the end of regulation.

It was once again Ryan Nassib, though, that led a late charge at the Carrier Dome. Nassib’s 18-yard touchdown pass to Alec Lemon with 2:07 left in the fourth helped Syracuse (3-1) overcome its third deficit of the game. The Orange have outscored opponents 42-13 in fourth quarter and overtime.

It was actually Nassib’s counterpart Dantin that controlled the game early as Toledo raced out to a 10-0 lead. He hooked up with Eric Page 13 times for 158 yards against a depleted Orange secondary that also gave up a 100-yard receiver in last week’s loss at USC.

Too much balance from Syracuse, though, including 114 yards by Antwon Bailey prevented the Rockets from upsetting a BCS team in the regular season for the sixth straight year. Both teams open up conference play next week.
