Quarterback Trent Steelman rushed for three touchdowns, including the game-winner with 2:51 left, as Army churned out 381 yards on the ground en route to a 21-14 victory over visiting Northwestern on Saturday.

Eight different players had at least one rushing attempt for the Black Knights, who controlled the ball for more than 40 minutes in their first game against a Big Ten opponent since beating the Wildcats on Sept. 24, 1991.

Army (1-2), which converted all three of its fourth-down tries, attempted 75 rushes and seven passes. Steelman finished with 108 yards while Raymond Maple had 95.

The Wildcats (2-1) had recorded one first down in the second half before replacing Kain Colter with Trevor Siemian at quarterback with 6:55 left. Siemian needed only three plays and 52 seconds to move 80 yards and tie it at 14 with a 52-yard strike to Jeremy Ebert.

Army went right back to the ground, handing the ball to five different players in a nine-play drive. Steelman took the last three plays for himself, and finally punched it in from the 1-yard line.

Siemian drove Northwestern back into Black Knights territory, but could not complete a pass on 4th-and-1 with 1:39 left.
