Virginia rallied from a late eight-point deficit and Robert Randolph's fourth field goal of the game with no time remaining gave the Cavaliers a thrilling 34-31 win over host Indiana on Saturday.

Randolph's kick prevented Virginia (2-0) from blowing a 20-point third-quarter lead as the Hoosiers reeled off 28 straight points and appeared to be on the cusp of an amazing comeback win in their home opener under first-year head coach Kevin Wilson.

Indiana (0-2) wiped out a 23-3 deficit in the third quarter by scoring four straight touchdowns to take a 31-23 lead late in the fourth quarter. Virginia rallied late by scoring a touchdown on a 3-yard run by Perry Jones with 1:36 remaining and converting the two-point conversion to tie the game at 31-31.

The Hoosiers took over deep in their own territory, and on third down quarterback Edwin Wright-Baker was sacked by Cam Johnson, who forced a fumble and recovered it on the Indiana 14. After a couple of running plays, the Cavaliers set up Randolph for his winning kick from 23 yards out.

Virginia is off to its first 2-0 start since 2005.
