Needing a win to clinch the Big 12 North title, No. 9 Nebraska repeatedly hurt itself with untimely penalties and turnovers, losing to No. 19 Texas A&M, 9-6.

The Cornhuskers (9-2, 5-2 Big 12) committed 16 penalties for 140 yards. The Aggies (8-3, 5-2) had just two for 10 yards. Coach Bo Pelini was called for unsportsmanlike conduct in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Taylor Martinez also threw an interception in Aggie territory that ended one of the Cornhuskers’ few promising drives of the night in the third quarter.

Martinez came out of the game late in the first quarter with an ankle injury, but he returned in the second half. Hobbled by the ankle, Martinez ran for just 17 yards on 11 carries.

After a 3-3 game at halftime and a scoreless third quarter, Texas A&M kicked two field goals to Nebraska’s one in the fourth quarter. The Aggies took the lead for good on a 19-yard Randy Bullock field goal with 3:02 left.

Texas A&M junior running back Cyrus Gray ran 26 times for 137 yards. He also caught nine passes from quarterback Ryan Tannehill for 65 yards.

With Missouri's 14-0 win over Iowa State 14-0, Nebraska now needs to beat Colorado on Friday to clinch the Big 12 North. Missouri faces Kansas on Saturday at Arrowhead Stadium.
