South Florida kicker Maikon Bonani booted a 37-yard field goal in the first overtime as visiting USF defeated Louisville, 24-21, on Saturday afternoon.

The Bulls (6-3, 3-2 Big East) stopped Louisville on their first overtime possession on a fourth-and-inches sneak by quarterback Justin Burke, who tied the game 21-21 with 1:21 left in regulation with his third touchdown pass, a 10-yarder to Josh Bellamy. Bonani then missed a 52-yarder as time expired to send the game into the extra period.

Louisville tailback Bilal Powell rushed for 140 yards in the loss.

The Cardinals (5-5, 2-3 Big East) scored their first touchdown midway through the first quarter after BJ Daniels was sacked and fumbled. Burke then hit sophomore wide receiver Andrell Smith with a 21-yard scoring strike on a third down.

Burke threw his second scoring pass from two yards out late in the second quarter when 6-9 wide receiver Josh Chichester stretched over his head for a leaping catch.

Bulls' sophomore Lindsey Lamar then electrified the crowd by taking the kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown as USF trailed, 14-10, at halftime.

Bonani kicked his second field goal, a 22-yarder, early in the third quarter as USF closed to 14-13.

Daniels then gave USF the lead when he uncorked a 48-yard touchdown pass to his leading receiver, Dontavia Bogan. Daniels then skirted left end for a two-point conversion as the Bulls led, 21-14.
