Brandon Weeden threw for 435 yards and three touchdowns and Justin Blackmon finished with two touchdowns as Oklahoma State rolled to a 55-28 victory over Baylor on Saturday in a game that featured two top-25 teams and a chance to rise atop the Big 12 South.

In the end, it was the 18th-ranked Cowboys (8-1, 4-1 Big 12) who moved to the top of the standings, while the 22nd-ranked Bears (7-3, 4-2) fell to third. Since the Big 12 was formed in 1996, either Baylor or Oklahoma State finished last, or tied for last, in the South every year.

The game was expected to be one of the closer ones of the weekend, but OSU made it a blowout from the start.

The Cowboys jumped out to a quick 24-0 lead. Dan Bailey got the scoring fest started with a 23-yard field goal, followed by a 5-yard touchdown pass from Weeden to Blackmon. Kendall Hunter then extended OSU’s lead with a pair of 1-yard rushing scores.

The Cowboys put the game out of reach early in the second half, as Blackmon scored on a 69-yard run on a reverse. Weeden also had a 62-yard touchdown to Colton Chelf.

Baylor avoided the shutout and got on the board early in the third quarter with a 9-yard touchdown run from Jay Finley. He finished with 91 yards on 18 carries.

Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III completed 30 of 48 for 267 yards and an interception.
