Kai Forbath kicked a 51-yard field goal on the final play of the game to give the UCLA Bruins a 17-14 victory over Oregon State in the Pac-10 at Pasadena, Calif., on Saturday night.

Forbath missed a 46-yard attempt with just over a minute remaining, but the Bruins held Oregon State and got the ball back to set up the winning kick.

Regulation appeared to end after UCLA's Randall Carroll caught a 12-yard pass, but UCLA challenged the play, and it was determined Carroll got out of bounds before time ran out.

The Bruins (4-5, 2-4 Pac-10) scored on their first possession when quarterback Richard Brehaut, making his second start of the year for the injured Kevin Prince, scored on a 7-yard run to cap a 72-yard drive.

Oregon State (4-4, 3-2) tied the game later in the first quarter when Ryan Katz connected with Joe Halahuni on a 28-yard touchdown pass.

Marcus Wheaton scored on a 22-yard run to give the Beavers a 14-7 lead early in the third quarter.

UCLA tied the game in the third quarter on a 1-yard run by Johnathan Franklin, who finished with 108 yards rushing.

Forbath, who is the active leader in the NCAA in career field goals, also missed a 49-yarder. He is 10 of 13 in his career from beyond 50 yards.
