Ryan Tannehill made the most of his start and might have ended the quarterback controversy at Texas A&M, leading the Aggies to a 45-27 victory over Texas Tech on Saturday afternoon.

Tannehill, a junior, got the start at quarterback in place of senior Jerrod Johnson, and played the entire game, completing 36-of-50 passes for 449 yards with four touchdowns and one interception.

With A&M (5-3, 2-2 Big 12) trailing 7-3 going into the second quarter, Tannehill had three touchdown passes in the quarter, and the Aggies led 24-14 at halftime. Tannehill and Jeff Fuller connected for two touchdowns, and his other scoring pass went to Michael Lamothe.

A&M then put the game out of reach in the second half. Junior running back Cyrus Gray had a 54-yard touchdown run, and then added a 2-yard touchdown run to give the Aggies a 38-14 lead.

Tannehill led the Aggies on another scoring drive in the fourth quarter. Tannehill hooked up with Lamothe on a 1-yard touchdown pass, as A&M took a 45-20 lead.

The Red Raiders (4-4, 2-4) scored two touchdowns in the fourth, both on passes from backup quarterback Steven Sheffield.
