William & Mary (6-2) led 17-7 at halftime on the strength of two touchdown passes from North Carolina transfer Mike Paulus. Paulus threw for 211 yards on 24-of-37 passing and marched the Tribe into North Carolina territory with less than three minutes left before William & Mary turned it over on downs.

The Tribe got one last chance in the final minute, but their drive only reached their own 45 before they ran out of time.

Dwight Jones caught nine passes for 108 yards for North Carolina. William & Mary's Chase Hill had five receptions for 53 yards, including touchdowns of 6 and 9 yards.
