Was it really only a short while back that Virginia Tech had been largely written off for dead following a disastrous 0-2 start to the season?

The 23rd-ranked Hokies continued their recent resurgence back towards national prominence on Saturday, rolling past overmatched Duke, 44-7, for their sixth consecutive victory. The hosts were impressive in all three phases of the game and easily beat the hapless Blue Devils for the 10th consecutive time and keeping pace towards a seventh consecutive 10-win season.

Quarterback Tyrod Taylor passed for a touchdown, while tailbacks Ryan Williams and Darren Evans each rushed for another, as Virginia Tech stormed to a 27-0 halftime lead and was never threatened the rest of the way.

Taylor, a ACC Player of the Year candidate, finished the day 13 of 17 through the air for 280 yards and three touchdowns and ran for a team-best 47 yards before giving way to backup Logan Thomas late in the third period.

Kicker Chris Hazley added three field goals for the winners and now has been successful on 13 of 14 field goal attempts this season, after missing his first try in the season-opening loss to Boise State.
