Ronny Hillman rushed for 191 yards and two touchdowns to lead San Diego State over No. 23 Air Force 27-25 in a Mountain West Conference game at Qualcomm Stadium on Saturday night.

Hillman scored on a 65-yard run in the second quarter to open the scoring as San Diego State never trailed.

The Aztecs led 20-12 midway though the fourth quarter and had a chance to possibly put the game away, but Abel Perez missed a 19-yard field goal. Air Force took over at the 20, and drove the length of the field to cut the deficit to 20-18 on a 4-yard scoring run by Nathan Walker.

The Falcons (5-2, 3-1 MWC) appeared to have tied the game when Tim Jefferson completed the two-point conversion pass to Asher Clark, but the conversion was overturned when replay officials ruled that Clark’s knee hit the ground before he crossed the goal line.

San Diego State (4-2, 1-1) recovered the ensuing onside kick, and Hillman scored on the next play from 44 yards out with 2:08 remaining.

Clark finished with 117 yards rushing and a touchdown for the Falcons, who lead the nation in rushing, ran for 312 yards. They got a 7-yard touchdown pass from Jefferson to Chaz Demerath with 18 seconds left to complete the scoring.

San Diego State had lost 25 straight games against ranked teams.
