Ricky Stanzi passed for three touchdowns and Adam Robinson ran for 144 yards and two touchdowns, as Iowa fended off a late comeback by Michigan en route to a 38-28 victory on Saturday.

Derrell Johnson-Koulianos caught three touchdown passes and became the Hawkeyes' all-time leading receiver in yardage with his fourth catch of the game in the fourth quarter.

Iowa held a commanding 28-7 lead entering the fourth thanks to a few Michigan turnovers and some disciplined play-calling by the Hawkeyes. But with Tate Forcier replacing Denard Robinson, who went down in the third quarter after taking a hit to his throwing arm, the Wolverines began to storm back.

Forcier led a 12-play drive capped by Stephen Hopkins’ 2-yard touchdown run to pull within 14 points but gave that score right back when Iowa took advantage of an interception and turned it into Johnson-Koulianos’ third score.

Forcier led two more touchdown drive in a row, however, pulling Michigan within 35-28 with seven minutes left. But the Wolverines defense could not hold on as Robinson churned out enough yards on the next possession to get the Hawkeyes into field goal range.

Forcier was intercepted again as Michigan made a last-ditch effort to get back into the game. Robinson had thrown for 97 yards and a touchdown and had rushed for 105 yards before going down.
