Michigan’s not the only team with a speedy Heisman candidate at quarterback.

Nebraska quarterback Taylor Martinez rushed for 241 yards and four touchdowns in an impressive 48-13 rout of Kansas State in Manhattan, Kan., Thursday.

With the big performance, Martinez joins Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson, the nation’s leading rusher, in the Heisman discussion. Nebraska will join Michigan in the Big Ten next season.

In the Huskers' final Big 12 opener, Martinez scored on runs of 14 and 35 yards in the first half to help Nebraska take a 17-3 lead into intermission. The redshirt freshman quarterback broke the game open with an 80-yard touchdown burst on the third play from scrimmage of the second half. Roy Helu added a 68-yard touchdown run later in the third quarter, and the rout was on.

Martinez also threw a 79-yard touchdown pass to Kyler Reed and added a 41-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Nebraska's defense was equally impressive and limited Kansas State star running back Daniel Thomas to 63 yards. The Wildcats managed only two Josh Cherry field goals and a meaningless late Carson Coffman touchdown pass to Chris Harper.

The sixth-ranked Cornhuskers (5-0, 1-0) now turn their focus to struggling Texas, which visits Lincoln on Oct. 16 in a rematch of last year's Big 12 Championship Game.

Kansas State (4-1, 1-1) will try to rebound at Kansas next week.
