Austen Arnaud threw four touchdown passes and Iowa State rushed for 251 yards in a 52-38 victory over Big 12 foe Texas Tech on Saturday.

Alexander Robinson and Shontrelle Johnson each rushed for 103 yards on 12 carries and a touchdown for the Cyclones (3-2,1-1 Big 12), who earned their first conference win of the season.

Knotted at 24-24 after a spirited comeback by the Red Raiders, Iowa State recovered a fumble at the Texas Tech 39 yard line with 55 seconds left in the third quarter. The Cyclones needed just five plays for Arnaud to hit Collin Franklin with a 27-yard touchdown pass.

The Cyclones forced a three-and-out on the ensuing possession and then handed the ball off to Johnson, who broke away for a 61-yard touchdown run to make it 38-24 with 13:14 left in the game.

The teams traded two more touchdowns apiece in the fourth, with Jeremy Reeves putting it away by running back an attempted on-side kick for a touchdown with 1:30 remaining.

Iowa State ripped off 24 straight points in the second, getting a field goal and touchdown passes from Arnaud on the next two possessions. Robinson made it 24-0 on the next series, capping a four-play drive with a 1-yard touchdown dive.

But Texas Tech (2-2, 0-2 Big 12) finally woke up on its next possession as Taylor Potts found a groove and went 5-for-5 on the drive to make it 24-7. The Red Raiders defense then managed to get the ball back with 15 seconds left. Potts needed only one pass from there to go into the break down 24-14. The Red Raiders scored twice in the third to pull even.
