The Nebraska Cornhuskers coasted through their second tuneup of the season in a 38-17 win over the Idaho Vandals on Saturday.

After sputtering to a 3-0 first-quarter lead, seventh-ranked Nebraska found its stride and outscored Idaho 28-3 to close out the half.

Quarterback Taylor Martinez continued to emerge as a difference maker for the Huskers. The redshirt freshman was 12-of-17 for 106 yards with an interception, and ran for 157 yards and two touchdowns. His 67-yard touchdown run broke open the game early in the second quarter.

Nebraska appeared to resolve the spotty defensive play from its season opener, limiting the high-powered Vandal offense through most of the game, and turning six turnovers into 21 points.

Idaho quarterback and Nebraska native Nathan Enderle labored through a rough homecoming. The senior from North Platte was pressured into five interceptions and two were returned for touchdowns by the Cornhuskers.

The running game continued to key the Husker attack.

Running backs Roy Helu Jr. (107) and Rex Burkhead (77) combined for 184 yards, complementing the fleet feet of their phenom quarterback. Martinez showed flashes of brilliance, easily eluding defenders while running, and targeting an array of receivers when throwing. The Husker offense moved the ball all day long, despite four turnovers and a series of penalties that canceled big plays in the second half.

Nebraska now turns its attention to Saturday's road matchup against Heisman hopeful quarterback Jake Locker and the Washington Huskies.
