Patrick Heckmann scored 18 points and host Boston College used a big first-half run to pull away from Stony Brook in a 66-51 win at Conte Forum.

Stony Brook grabbed an 11-6 lead, but things fell apart for the visiting Seawolves shortly after that. Boston College, which came into the game one of the worst shooting teams in the country, caught fire, hitting nine of its final 15 shots of the half. B.C.'s 22-0 run gave it a 28-11 halftime lead.

Stony Brook had a miserable opening 20 minutes offensively, going the last 11:50 without scoring.

The visitors trailed by 17 at halftime, but stayed relatively close thanks to leading scorer Bryan Dougher. The senior guard was held scoreless in the first half, but scored 17 of his game-high 21 points in the first 11 minutes after halftime to get the Seawolves to within 47-39 at the 8:29 mark.

Despite Dougher’s performance, Stony Brook (3-5) finished just 19 of 64 (29%) from the field.

Boston College snapped a four-game losing streak and improved to 3-7.
