Arkansas guard Daryl Macon made some critical free throws down the stretch as the Razorbacks outlasted Tennessee 82-78 in a Southeastern Conference game in Knoxville, Tenn., on Tuesday.

After trailing for much of the second half, Tennessee (8-6, 1-1 SEC) got to within 62-61 after a 3-pointer by guard Lamonte Turner with 7:20 left. But Arkansas guard Anton Beard answered with a layup to push the margin to three.

Vols forward Grant Williams made one of two free throws to make it 64-62, but a Dusty Hannahs' 3-pointer made it a five-point game.

The Razorbacks (12-2, 1-1) kept the margin above three until a dunk by Vols guard Robert Hubbs III made it 71-70 with 1:50 left.

Arkansas guard Jaylan Barford made a pair of free throws, but Jordan Bone answered with a layup to get the Vols back within one. Macon knocked down two free throws for the Razorbacks with 54 seconds left, and Tennessee then turned the ball over.

Razorbacks forward Moses Kingsley went 1 of 2 at the line to increase the lead to four, but Vols guard Detrick Mostella converted a three-point play to make it 76-75 with 25 seconds left.

Macon then went 6 for 6 from the line over the final 18 seconds to secure the win for the Razorbacks.

Beard led Arkansas with 16 points. Macon went just 1 for 6 from the field, but hit 12 of his 13 free-throw attempts to finish with 15 points.

Hubbs had 21 points for Tennessee. Williams had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Tennessee led 39-37 at the half, which was highlighted by a pair of big runs. A 14-0 run by the Vols left Tennessee with a 39-26 lead with 4:06 to go before intermission, but the Razorbacks scored the final 11 points of the half, then started the second with four consecutive points to take

the lead.
