Junior forward Sheldon Jeter scored 23 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead Pitt to a 90-71 victory over Virginia Tech on Sunday evening at Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh.

Jeter made nine of 13 field-goal attempts for Pitt (17-4, 6-3 Atlantic Coast Conference). Junior forward Michael Young had 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Junior forward Jamel Artis scored 11 points, and senior guard James Robinson had eight points and 11 assists.

Junior guard Seth Allen scored 28 points to lead Virginia Tech (12-10, 4-5). Sophomore guard Jalen Hudson had 13 points. Junior forward Zach LeDay had 12 points and nine rebounds, and sophomore guard Justin Bibbs also scored 12 points.

Pitt took an early 11-9 lead on a jumper by Jeter and went up 19-13 on a layup by freshman guard Damon Wilson. Virginia Tech rallied to tie the game on a 3-pointer by Allen with 6:22 to play in the opening period, but the Panthers responded with a 10-0 run to take a 33-23 lead.

Pitt led 41-32 at the break and extended its lead to 15 early in the second half. The Panthers took a 61-43 advantage on a 3-pointer by Wilson, went up 69-48 when Wilson converted a three-point play midway through the half and led by as many as 22 points.
