Forward Brice Johnson had 16 points and 16 rebounds as No. 7 North Carolina took down UNC Greensboro 96-63 on Monday night at the Smith Center in Chapel Hill, N.C., in the Tar Heels' final tune-up before Atlantic Coast Conference play begins.

The Tar Heels (11-2), who hadn't played in a week, also received good news on guard Marcus Paige, who was in the starting lineup after he left the previous game with an ankle injury. Paige and forward Justin Jackson each scored 14 points, while forward Isaiah Hicks had 13 points and guards Joel Berry and Nate Britt each added 11 points.

Paige scored five points in North Carolina's opening 9-2 spurt.

Johnson has led North Carolina in scoring four games in a row.

Guard Francis Alonso, who made five three-point baskets, scored 17 points for UNCG (4-9), which lost its fourth consecutive game against an in-state opponent. Guard Demetrius Troy finished with 14 points for the Spartans.

The Tar Heels led 47-28 at halftime.

North Carolina shot 55.4 percent from the field, but the Tar Heels didn't put away UNCG until the final seven minutes. The Spartans were within 13 points with 10 minutes left.

UNCG is coached by former North Carolina guard Wes Miller, who was a reserve on the Tar Heels' 2005 national championship team.
