Evansville center Egidijus Mockevicius scored 17 of his 23 points in the second half Sunday as the Purple Aces notched an 85-77 win over Fresno State in the Missouri Valley-Mountain West Challenge at Save Mart Arena in Fresno, Calif.

Mockevicius added a game-high 13 rebounds for Evansville (10-2), while guard D.J. Balentine contributed 23 points and five assists. Reserve guard Mislav Brzoja tallied 16 points and guard Jaylon Brown had 11 points plus six assists.

Guard Marvelle Harris tossed in a game-high 24 points to pace the Bulldogs (8-4), while backup guard Julien Lewis and guard Cezar Guerrero scored 12 each. Forward Torren Jones came off the bench to add 11 points.

The teams played to a 40-40 tie in the first half, but the Purple Aces scored the second half's first 10 points, capped by Brzoja's 3-pointer at the 17:09 mark. Brzoja added another trey with 6:46 remaining to give Evansville its largest lead at 70-57.

The Purple Aces canned 15-of-27 field-goal attempts in the second half, finishing the day at 29-of-59 from the field. They drew assists on 21 field goals, with four players picking up at least three.

Fresno State hit 27-of-58 field-goal attempts, but cooled off in the second half, making only 41.6 percent of its shots.
