No. 18 SMU overwhelmed Southland Conference opponent Nicholls State 86-42 on Wednesday night in University Park, Texas, despite having just seven players in uniform.

Forward Jordan Tolbert had 18 points and 23 rebounds to lead SMU. Forward Ben Moore produced 22 points and 15 rebounds, and guard Sterling Brown added 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Nicholls State (3-6) shot 25.4 percent from the field for the game and was 3 of 22 (13.6 percent) from 3-point range.

SMU (8-0) had just six scholarship players plus walk-on guard Jonathan Wilfong, who played a career-high 21 minutes. The Mustangs were missing two starters -- forward Markus Kennedy (ankle) and guard Keith Frazier (knee) -- and reserve guard Sedrick Barefield was out with the flu.

SMU was also missing Hall of Fame coach Larry Brown, who was serving the eighth game of a nine-game suspension for NCAA violations. He will return to the SMU bench on Dec. 22 in Las Vegas against Kent State.

Even with a reduced lineup, SMU scored the first 12 points of the game and led 20-2 just 5 1/2 minutes in.
