Junior guard Bryce Alford had 27 points, seven assists and six rebounds to lead No. 22 UCLA to an 89-80 victory over Louisiana on Tuesday at Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles.

Senior forward Tony Parker had 19 points and nine rebounds for the Bruins (8-3). Junior guard Isaac Hamilton had 19 points and seven rebounds.

Senior forward Shawn Long had 26 points and 16 rebounds for the Ragin' Cajuns (3-5). Senior guard Kasey Shepherd had 15 points, five rebounds and five assists. Junior guard Jay Wright scored 14 points.

UCLA scored the first eight points and took a 12-2 lead on a 3-pointer by junior guard Jonah Bolden. The Bruins led by as many as 19 points in the opening period and took a 47-35 lead at the break.

Louisiana opened the second half with a 7-2 run to cut the deficit to seven with 18:16 to play. The Ragin' Cajuns got within six on a 3-pointer by junior guard Hayward Register with 12:20 to go and trailed by four after Register made another 3-pointer with 10:13 remaining, but UCLA responded with an 11-2 run to reestablish a double-digit lead.
