Point guard Jordan Johnson scored a team-high 22 points as Milwaukee stunned its intrastate rival Wisconsin with a 68-67 victory Wednesday at the Kohl Center in Madison, Wis.

Senior forward Matt Tiby added 15 points and had 11 rebounds for the Panthers (7-3), who beat Wisconsin for the first time in 23 years, and snapped the Badgers' 22-game winning streak between the teams.

Junior forward Nigel Hayes scored a career-high 32 points, and junior guard Bronson Koenig contributed 16 for Wisconsin (6-4).

Wisconsin redshirt freshman Ethan Happ added 10 points and had 15 rebounds to post his fourth double-double of the season.

Johnson, a junior college transfer, was 8-for-8 from the free-throw line and had four assists. Johnson's hanging jumper in the lane gave Milwaukee its first lead of the game at 62-60 with 2 minutes, 31 seconds to go.

Junior guard Akeem Springs made two free throws with 22.7 seconds left to extend Milwaukee's lead to 68-64. Meanwhile, Koenig's step-back 3-pointer from the left wing with 13.4 seconds remaining, pulled the Badgers within one at 68-67.

The Badgers got the ball back after a Milwaukee turnover, but Koenig's game-winning attempt clanked off the front of the rim with one second left on the clock.

The Panthers shot 81.5 percent from the free-throw line (22-for-27) in the victory, including 10 consecutive foul shots in the final 7:06 of the game.

The Panthers are members of the Horizon League and are coached by former Wisconsin assistant Rob Jeter. Jeter played and worked as an assistant at UW-Platteville, when Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan was at the helm of the NCAA Division III program.
