In a game billed as the city championship of New Orleans, Tulane pushed its winning streak to three games with a hard-fought, 64-62 win over New Orleans at the Devlin Fieldhouse.

The city rivals met on the hardwood for the 48th time, but it was their first meeting since 2011. The Green Wave hold a 25-23 lead in the all-time series.

The game was a close affair that wasn't decided until New Orleans freshman guard Cameron Reed's potential game-winning 3-point attempt on the final possession clanked off the rim.

Tulane (5-3) built a 33-24 halftime lead as its stingy defense held the Privateers to 8-for-34 first-half shooting, including 0-for-8 from behind the arc.

New Orleans (2-4) fixed its wayward shooting aim to start the second half, unfurling a 15-6 run to tie the game at 39 with 12:55 left in regulation, and it was nip and tuck the rest of the way.

Tulane righted the ship after a rough 2-3 start that included losses to SWAC teams Alabama A&M and Southern University.

Guard Malik Morgan led the Green Wave with 12 points against the Privateers. Forward Dylan Osetkowski contributed 11 points, 11 rebounds -- his third double-double of the season -- and Jernard Jarreau had 10 points and 13 boards. Guard Louis Dabney added 10 points.

Guards Christavious Gill (15 points) and Nate Frye (11 points) paced the Privateers.

The Green Wave play host to Georgia Tech on Saturday, while New Orleans plays at Ball State that day.
