Forward Jameel McKay had 15 points and a career-high 18 rebounds to lead No. 5 Iowa State to an 84-64 win over North Dakota State on Tuesday night.

The Cyclones pulled away in the second half, when they outscored the Bison, 48-34. Iowa State shot 50 percent for the game and held North Dakota State to 36.1 percent from the floor.

It was a balanced scoring effort for the Cyclones. Forward Abdel Nader led the way with 21 points. He added five rebounds. Guard Monte Morris had 18 points, six assists and five rebounds.

Forward Georges Niang scored 15 points and guard Naz Mitrou-Long had 11.

Niang gave the Hilton Coliseum crowd a scare when he fell to the ground and grabbed his knee. He was helped off the court. He returned a few minutes later and rode a stationary bike before coming back into the game after suffering what was called a right thigh contusion.

North Dakota State hung around in the first half, trailing 36-30 at intermission, and didn't let the Cyclones pull away until partway through the second half.

Guards Paul Miller and A.J. Jacobson each led the Bison with 17 points. Guard Carlin Dupree also reached double figures by adding 11 points.
