Georgetown 84, Eastern Washington 74: D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera scored 19 of his 25 points in the second half and grabbed eight rebounds as the Hoyas held off the Eagles in NCAA Tournament round of 64 play in Portland, Ore.

Mikael Hopkins added 10 points and nine rebounds while Jabril Trawick and Paul White scored 10 points apiece as fourth-seeded Georgetown (22-10) advances to meet No. 5 seed Utah in Saturday's round of 32. Little-used center Bradley Hayes matched his season total with eight points in a seven-plus minute span and grabbed six rebounds - all in the first half, Tre Campbell scored nine and Aaron Bowen recorded eight for the Hoyas, who were 11-for-23 from 3-point range.

Tyler Harvey, who led the nation in scoring at 22.9 points per game prior to the NCAA tournament, scored 27 points for No. 13 seed Eastern Washington (26-9). Venky Jois recorded 19 points and eight rebounds while Bogdan Bliznyuk scored 11 as the Eagles shot 9-for-28 from 3-point range with Harvey going 6-for-12.

With two of Georgetown's top big men - Joshua Smith and Hopkins - saddled with early foul trouble, Hayes was pressed into service and contributed six points and five rebounds during a 26-9 half-ending burst that gave Georgetown a 43-33 lead at intermission. The Hoyas, who averaged less than six 3-pointers entering the game, were 7-for-13 from 3-point range prior to the break and shot 57.1 percent from the field while Eastern Washington missed six of its final seven shots.

Georgetown converted six of its first 10 attempts from the floor during a 15-2 run - highlighted by back-to-back 3-pointers from Smith-Rivera - to extend the lead to 58-35 with 13:25 remaining. The Hoyas committed eight turnovers during a six-plus minute stretch and let the lead slip to seven in the final seconds before time ran out on the Eagles and Harvey, who scored 11 points in the final 1:38.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Hayes recorded 14 rebounds in 51 minutes and did not play in 16 of Georgetown's 31 games prior to the NCAA Tournament. ... Harvey endured a 15:29 scoreless stretch spanning halftime - taking only four shots during that span - and finished 9-of-20 from the field. ... The Big Sky Conference tournament champion Eagles, whose 26 wins were their most since 1946, fell to 0-2 in the NCAA Tournament, losing 75-56 to Oklahoma State in 2004.
