SMU 70, UCF 61: Nic Moore scored a game-high 21 points, including five 3-pointers, to lead the visiting Mustangs past the Knights in American Athletic Conference play.

Ben Moore and Markus Kennedy added nine points apiece for SMU (12-4, 3-1 AAC), which never trailed in the game. Yanick Moreira chipped in eight points and a game-high eight rebounds and Cannen Cunningham had eight points off the bench for the Mustangs, who got 22 points from their reserves.

B.J. Taylor, Brandon Goodwin and Adonys Henriquez scored 11 points each for UCF (8-7, 1-3), which shot 36.2 percent from the field. Daiquan Walker chipped in with eight points off the bench for the Knights, who were outrebounded 35-27.

Nic Moore opened the second half with two 3-pointers to give the Mustangs a 36-26 cushion. The Knights pulled within 46-40 on a layup from Taylor with just under 10 minutes to go but would never get closer.

SMU took a 30-26 lead into halftime as Moreira and Moore scored eight points apiece and the Mustangs shot 52 percent from the field before intermission. UCF’s Taylor and Henriquez each scored seven points to pace the Knights at the break, as UCF connected at a 35.7 percent clip in the first half.
