Southeastern Oklahoma State 69, Tulsa 66: Danny Powell scored 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting as the visiting Savage Storm held on late to upset the Golden Hurricane.

Taylor Smaller added 18 points while Sami Bzai scored 17 to go with a game-high seven assists for Division II Southeastern Oklahoma State (5-6), which has won four of its last five games following a 1-5 start. Powell added eight rebounds and Darius Harris scored six points and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds for the Savage Storm, who won despite 20 turnovers.

Shaquille Harrison totaled a season-high 24 points and added seven rebounds, four assists, three steals and a block for Tulsa (5-4), which failed in its quest to win three consecutive games for the first time this season. D'Andre Wright added 14 points and seven rebounds and Marquel Curtis had 12 points and three assists for the Golden Hurricane, who saw their leading scorer, James Woodard, struggle to a season-low six points.

Tulsa couldn't find its stroke in the first half, with Woodard held scoreless on 0-for-2 shooting in the opening 20 minutes as the Golden Hurricane shot 38.5 percent from the field. Southeastern Oklahoma State took advantage, establishing a 28-25 lead by halftime, thanks in large part to 10 points apiece from Powell and Smaller.

After the break, the Savage Storm opened with an 18-8 run that featured a pair of 3-pointers from Bzai and another from Powell to establish a 46-33 advantage with just over 13 minutes remaining. Southeastern Oklahoma State answered seven consecutive points from Harrison with a 13-0 surge to open up a 19-point lead with 7:30 remaining but only secured the victory when Harrison missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer as Tulsa's ferocious comeback attempt fell just short.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Southeastern Oklahome State improved to 4-0 against Tulsa, though the teams last met in 1936. ... Tulsa had won its previous seven games on its home court. ... The Savage Storm shot 10-of-21 from 3-point range, led by a 4-of-6 effort from Bzai.
