USC Upstate 59, Georgia Tech 54: Ty Greene scored 13 of his 16 points in the second half as the visiting Spartans rallied to end the Yellow Jackets’ three-game winning streak.

Josh Cuthbertson added 12 points – all in the first half, hitting a career-high four 3-pointers – and Greene finished with three treys as USC Upstate (8-2) rallied from an 11-point first-half deficit by shooting 10-of-26 from beyond the arc. ShunQuez Stephens scored 13 points as the Spartans won their third in a row.

Chris Bolden scored 10 points to lead Georgia Tech (6-2), which shot a season-low 37 percent from the field and 3-of-21 from 3-point range while registering 17 turnovers. The Yellow Jackets got eight points and eight rebounds from Demarco Cox, and eight points and seven rebounds from Marcus Georges-Hunt.

Stephens scored seven consecutive points, hitting two free throws with 4:03 remaining to put the Spartans ahead 49-48 and, after a turnover on the other end, Greene’s three-point play with 3:39 to go made it a four-point advantage. Michael Buchanan hit a free throw and a layup to push the advantage to 55-50 with 46 seconds left before he sealed it with two free throws with 11.4 seconds to play.

Bolden and Tadric Jackson each scored five points during a 14-0 run to give the Yellow Jackets an 18-7 lead midway through the first half, but the Spartans rallied to tie the game at 28-28 by halftime. Mario Blessing’s 3-pointer three minutes into the second half put USC Upstate ahead 34-31, but Georges-Hunt’s three-point play highlighted a 7-0 spurt to give Georgia Tech a 40-36 lead with 11:35 left.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Yellow Jackets hit only three shots from the field in the final eight minutes. … USC Upstate shot 6-of-14 from 3-point range in the opening half, while hitting 2-of-13 attempts from inside the arc. … Georgia Tech lost for the first time this season when allowing fewer than 70 points.
