New Mexico State 64, Texas-Arlington 55:
Sim Bhullar had 16 points, 15 rebounds and five blocked shots and Daniel Mullings also had 16 points as the Aggies downed the Mavericks to win the Western Athletic Conference crown in Las Vegas.

Bandja Sy added 10 points as third-seeded New Mexico State (24-10) claimed the conference’s automatic NCAA tournament berth and will be part of the field for the third time in four seasons.

Kevin Butler had 13 points and 10 rebounds to pace fourth-seeded Texas-Arlington (19-13). Karol Gruszecki added 11 points and Jordan Reves scored 10.

The Mavericks trailed by 13 points with 11:35 left and got back into the contest with nine straight points. Texas-Arlington pulled within 56-53 on a basket by Brandon Edwards with 2:02 to play before the Aggies closed with an 8-2 run.

Bhullar had 10 points and 10 rebounds as New Mexico State took a 32-30 halftime lead. A 9-0 run gave the Aggies a 12-point lead and the advantage topped out at 51-38 on Sy's 3-pointer.

GAME NOTEBOOK: New Mexico State outrebounded the Mavericks 41-29. … Butler was just 5-of-17 shooting, including 2-for-8 from 3-point range. … The double-double was the second in a row and third overall for Bhullar, a 7-foot-5, 360-pound freshman.
