TCU 76, UAB 73: Kyan Anderson scored a career-high 35 points and the Horned Frogs held on to edge the Blazers and capture the consolation championship of the South Padre Island Invitational.

Coming off one of the worst offensive performances in school history less than 24 hours earlier in a 55-31 loss to Northwestern, TCU (5-2) shot 55.8 percent, hitting 29 of 52 from the field and making 17 of 21 free throws (81 percent). The Horned Frogs shot just 26 percent the night before and missed seven of 12 free throws in the blowout loss to Northwestern.

Anderson, the Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year in 2012, shot 13-of-20 from the floor and 8-of-10 from the line, including a pair with 3 seconds remaining to provide the final margin.

UAB (3-3) had a final 3-pointer for the tie, but Jekore Tyler's attempt missed as the Blazers lost their second straight. Rod Rucker led UAB with 13 points as all five starters scored in double figures.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Anderson had scored 36 points in the previous five games combined before his breakout performance. ... The 76 points was a season-high for TCU. ... UAB shot 50 percent from the field, but missed 12 of its 29 free throws (58.6 percent).
