Virginia Tech 69, Clemson 61: Erick Green scored 29 points and C.J. Barksdale added 14 points and eight rebounds as the last-place Hokies held on for a home win in ACC action.

Robert Brown chipped in 13 points for the Hokies (13-16, 4-12 ACC), who shot 54.8 percent from the field to win for the second time in 12 games. Green, the nation's leading scorer, put up 17 of his 29 in the first half. He has scored 20 or more points in 26 of 29 games this season.

Devin Booker scored 17 points and Milton Jennings and Adonis Filer added 13 apiece for the Tigers (13-15, 5-11), who have lost four straight and seven of eight. Clemson was 4-for-16 from 3-point range.

The Hokies trailed by as many as four in the first half before pulling away for a 36-25 halftime advantage. They pushed the margin as wide as 15 points early in the second half before the Tigers began chipping away.

Booker scored eight straight Clemson points as the Tigers trimmed the deficit to three points, and they twice pulled within two but couldn't get any closer. The score was 62-59 with 1:48 left, but the Hokies made nine of 10 free throws down the stretch to ice it.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The home team has won the past seven meetings. … Green (726) needs 60 points to break Bimbo Coles' single-season school record of 785 set in 1989-90. The Hokies have two regular-season games and at least one game in the ACC tournament remaining. … Clemson F K.J. McDaniels missed his second straight game with a sprained ankle.
