Markel Brown scored 18 points and Le’Bryan Nash added 16 as the host Cowboys defeated the Longhorns in Big 12 play.

Phil Forte scored 14 points and made four 3-pointers and Marcus Smart added 11 points and four steals as Oklahoma State (22-6, 12-4 Big 12) won for the 10th time in 11 games to remain one game off the pace in the conference race.

Julien Lewis scored 15 points and Javan Felix added 13 for Texas (13-16, 5-11), which dropped to 1-8 on the road.

Texas never trailed over the first 14-plus minutes before Oklahoma State took its first lead at 23-22 on Brown’s dunk with 5:51 left in the half. The Cowboys took the lead for good with a string of 14 straight points – including eight in a row to end the first half – to take a 43-31 lead with 17:07 remaining.

Oklahoma State’s lead reached 65-46 on Brown’s acrobatic 3-point play with 7:31 remaining. Texas didn’t trail by less than 11 points the remainder of the contest.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Brown (1,006 career points) became the 37th player in Oklahoma State history to reach 1,000 career points. … Longhorns PG Myck Kabongo committed seven turnovers and scored just seven points – 24 fewer than he had in Wednesday’s victory over Oklahoma. … Oklahoma State had lost 11 of the previous 13 games in the series prior to sweeping the two regular-season meetings this season.
