Allen Payne scored nine of his 11 points in the second half as the host Tigers overcame a horrendous first-half performance to win the SEC game.

Josh Wallace also scored 11 points and Chris Denson had nine for Auburn (9-13, 3-6 SEC), which rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit to end a six-game losing streak.

Trevor Releford scored 11 points and Rodney Cooper had 11 points and seven rebounds to lead Alabama (14-8, 6-3), which shot 24 percent from the floor in the second half.

Auburn didn’t score its first points until seven minutes had elapsed. By then, the Tigers trailed 9-2. They ended up shooting 3-for-23 in the first half, but only trailed 23-13 heading into the break.

The second half was a reversal of fortunes as the Crimson Tide went cold and Auburn heated up behind Payne, who scored seven of his team’s first nine points in a 23-5 run that gave the Tigers the lead for good.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Auburn senior G Frankie Sullivan, who came in leading the team in scoring at 16.5, missed his first 11 shots before finishing 1-for-13 with seven points. Sullivan still moved into the school’s top 10 career scoring list with 1,462 points. … Auburn coach Tony Barbee won his first game in five tries against Alabama. … The Tigers lead the series 26-25 in games played at Auburn.
