Jio Fontan added 15 points, Eric Wise had 12 points and 11 rebounds and J.T. Terrell and Byron Wesley finished with 10 points apiece for USC (9-13, 4-5).

USC took the lead for good, 72-71, on a layup by Wesley with 1:36 remaining in overtime. UCLA missed three 3-pointers down the stretch and the Trojans made three out of four free throws in the final 11 seconds to seal the win.

The Trojans took a nine-point lead into halftime and extended their advantage to as much as 15 before UCLA began making a push following the fourth foul on Fontan with 9:55 remaining. UCLA freshman guard Jordan Adams sank a baseline jumper that tied the score at 65 with 32 seconds remaining in regulation and the game ventured into overtime.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Bruins fell to 8-1 this season when Muhammad scores at least 20 points. … Muhammad’s dad, Ron Holmes, starred for USC in the early 1980s. … Former UCLA standout Reggie Miller had his No. 31 jersey retired at halftime.
